Let’s really step outside of diatonic harmony and melody and see what we can find!

Ok – up until this point, things have been pretty ‘diatonic’… In this course we’ll explore some great ways to understand and create music that has chords and melodies that appear to be outside of the key. This is really good stuff!

In this course, we’ll take the next big step and learn about drop voicings and extended chords.

We’re really going to ramp things up in this course. 4 note chords is our next challenge. You’ll need to rely heavily on the knowledge gained from previous courses. This course is a game changer!

With the diatonic triads of the major scale sorted out, we’ll now look at the diatonic triads of the major scale as well as a couple of other useful tricks. Here we go…

Now that we’ve been introduced to major, minor, augmented and diminished triads we can move onto some more practical uses of chords. In this course we’ll look at chord progressions, some different ways to play triads and a couple of new chords will be thrown in as well. Let’s go!

Chords are everywhere! They are the harmonic backdrop of music. This is a massively important subject for the modern musician. A foundational understanding of major scales and intervals is a must before proceeding with these courses.
